Ethan Nelson-Roberts has been nominated for a Multicultural Apprenticeship Award for 2024

In a win for MetaGedu Apprenticeships, part of Global Education (GEDU), apprentice Ethan Nelson-Roberts has been nominated for a Multicultural Apprenticeship Award for 2024.

Undertaking an apprenticeship as an Investment Operations Technician with Charles Stanley, made possible by MetaGedu Apprenticeships, Ethan impressed many people within the organisation over the 18-month period, and caught the eye of the CEO.

He passed three regulatory exams, all of which were passed the first time, he is a co-lead on the organisation’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board, he ran an event on behalf of the organisation for Black History Month in 2023 and he was also chosen by Charles Stanley to be the co-lead of their activities during the National Apprenticehsips Week.

Ethan said he owes a lot of his success to the Open Palm organisation, which empowers young people to succeed regardless of their racial or social background, and in his case, helped him transition from a professional football academy player to the business world.

“My dream was always to play professional football, and I was very close to realising this, until two serious injuries forced me to reconsider,” Mr Nelson-Roberts said.

“Open Palm supported me through what was a difficult time, as I reassessed not only my career, but also my future more broadly.

“They knew I wanted a career that would challenge me as much as football did, and they were instrumental in helping me into this position.

“The last 18 months have really shaped me into someone I would have been proud to be before I started. I’ve been challenged, I’ve been tested, but most importantly I’ve been given extraordinary learning and leadership opportunities which have no doubt set me up for further career success.

“I am extremely grateful to Open Palm, Charles Stanley and MetaGedu Apprenticeships for all of the support, and I am thrilled by this nomination for the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards 2024.”

The Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards, in partnership with Pearson, recognise apprentices, their employers and learning providers.

The winners of the 2024 edition will be announced on November 1.
