Being an apprentice at MetaGedu is more than just about reaching the destination, it’s also about what you learn on the journey.
The opportunity to gain knowledge from those in the industry is always important for our apprentices’ development. We like to ensure that they don’t just learn this from textbooks, but directly from those who have experienced the sector.
Recently, we welcomed Alisha Parchment (Assoc CIPD), HR Business Partner and Educational YouTuber, to our offices to speak with our apprentices. Alisha provided insights, advice, and personal anecdotes about how she has not only carved her niche in the industry but also her popular YouTube channel, ‘HR Talks with Lish’.
During the session, Alisha opened up about her own career challenges, victories, and the pivotal moments that shaped her into the HR professional she is today. By weaving personal narratives into the discussion, she not only humanised the journey but also demonstrated that setbacks are not roadblocks but rather stepping stones towards growth and development.
Alisha began by talking about her YouTube channel being a platform to document her HR career journey. From the triumphs to the challenges, she shared her experiences, lessons learned, and the evolving landscape of the HR industry. Her channel serves as a beacon for those navigating the intricate world of Human Resources, offering a unique blend of professional advice and relatable storytelling.
We’d recommend visiting her channel to view Alisha’s very insightful videos: https://www.youtube.com/@hrtalkswithlish
As well as talking about her own professional experiences, Alisha decided to take her presentation a step further and directly offered support to our apprentices. Our apprentices were offered one-on-one career support sessions where she could provide personalised advice and actionable strategies, they can put into practice to support their personal and professional development.
Here’s what our apprentices said about Alisha’s visit:
All in all, everyone enjoyed Alisha’s visit and we hope to welcome her back soon!
Would you like to share your professional experiences with our apprentices? .
